  • Transport for London?s Traffic Calming Measures for Bus Routes
  • Need for speed in LA, by State law: i know the Pasadena DOT has the same problem: enforce speed limits by ticketing, but thereby having to following State regulations for re-setting the speed limit occasionally (to the 85% percentile of actual driving speeds...?!?), OR not enforce speed limits, in which case motorists also get to increase their de facto speed limit. i guess i feel like complaining about constraints of State Law, and then raising speed limits, is a politically lazy approach to the problem. traffic calming (speed humps, bike boulevards, streets that don't go through) can clearly lower motorists' ; speeds, but they're more costly than putting in new speed limit signs. if they're more in line with what locals want though (safer streets), why isn't the cost worth it to more municipalities ? and/or why isn't there a push for revision of the relevant State law?
